Thrifty Seibel Plates -- Back to the 70s

These are 'Trellis' plates, designed for Mikasa 'Duplex' by Ben Seibel, recently thrifted. The line was in production from 1974-75, my first two years in Chicago. The gold and green colors are so 70s, I think -- earth-tone colors.

And maybe that's why I strangely love these dishes -- not my usual colors or style, but the graphic quality and colors of the flowers remind me so much of the mid-70s, my first years of solo independence and self-expression. Trippin' on plates.

Hi: I was just checking out your blog and saw the little plastic chairs. They come from a play set called a (Dream Kitchen). It has several units, dishwasher, stove, sink, fridge, and table with four chairs. The kitchen was stocked with everything you would ever need down to silverware. I still have mine I got it for Christmas when I was 5 that was in 1962 and I've kept it all this time.

Hello,
How I miss Chicago suburbs...I moved to Elgin...Southern Arizona. (the same family tree who founded Elgin, Illinois)
I found your blog and it was like hearing my best girlfriend I lost 16 years ago. It is so nice of you to share...I love your pictures. I go crazy here...not many antiques made it this far across the mountains. Hardly any pure relics! Just me. Thanks agin for sharing.
